Sam Bankman-Fried reaches deal with federal prosecutors on use of encrypted apps

Disgraced FTX ( FTT-USD ) co-founder Sam Bankman-Fried has agreed with federal prosecutors that he will not use Signal or any other encrypted messaging applications as part of a deal to amend his bail conditions, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing a letter filed by Bankman-Fried defense attorney Mark Cohen. Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of failed crypto exchange FTX, will be allowed to send normal text messages and make Zoom and FaceTime calls, the report said. He can use WhatsApp, too, provided he downloads a monitoring software on his cell phone to record any messages. At the beginning of February, SBF, who is facing criminal charges over the implosion of his once-might platform, was barred from contacting current or former FTX employees .
