'Crypto Crash' hearing to be held by Senate Banking Committee in February

The U.S. Senate Banking Committee is going to conduct a hearing on Feb. 14 to assess financial system safeguards needed for digital assets, according to a Friday hearing schedule. The Valentines' Day hearing , called “Crypto Crash: Why Financial System Safeguards are Needed for Digital Assets,” comes as lawmakers ramp up scrutiny of the digital asset ecosystem following a slew of high-profile failures, including November's implosion of crypto exchange FTX ( FTT-USD ), in an effort to protect customer assets. On Thursday, Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) was said to have mapped out his priorities for a bipartisan regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies.
